Point of growth: new ALUTECH logistics hub commences operation in Plzen (Czech Republic)
The ALUTECH Group of companies is the leader in the roller shutter component market, the leading manufacturer of aluminium profile systems and sectional doors. The holding comprises 5 manufacturing enterprises and more than 20 sales companies in Eastern and Western Europe. In order to provide fast delivery ALUTECH founded a logistics hub, ALUTECH Systems s.r.o. in the Czech city of Bor 7 years ago.
In the course of time, as the customer base grew and sales volume of ALUTECH products increased, there was a need to increase storage capacity and throughput capacity of the warehouse. At the end of 2017, ALUTECH moved to another location and launched a modern logistics hub in the city of Plzen (Czech Republic). Its total area is 4300 m², which is 1.5 times bigger than the area of the old warehouse.
Relocation to the new premises will generate a number of significant advantages for ALUTECH and its partners. Thus, delivery time will be reduced thanks to the advantageous location of the logistics hub, as Plzen is one of the biggest cities in the Czech Republic, being its important industrial and administrative centre.
Throughput capacity will become the key performance indicator of the warehouse operation: the number of storage places for long products has been doubled, the area for reception and consolidation has also been increased significantly. All this will make it possible to double the throughput capacity of the logistics hub, and consequently to increase the goods traffic significantly.
Furthermore, a number of technical solutions have been introduced at the new logistics hub, which are designed to optimise warehouse operation and reduce maintenance costs. The short-term plans include introduction of SAP (an automated system for financial and management accounting, personnel management and other activities of the company’s business units) and WMS (a system for accounting and automated warehouse management allowing losses through warehouse operations to be minimised).
The launch of the new big logistics hub thus proves once again the high quality of ALUTECH products and high demand for ALUTECH products on the markets of Western Europe. We are sure that the new warehouse will become a meaningful step towards further development of mutually beneficial relations between the ALUTECH Group and our European partners.
