Economising on heating is high on the agenda for all private homeowners. Everybody knows that it is necessary to pay special attention to the thermal insulation of window openings, walls and floors, but we should not forget about utility rooms such as garages.
The thermal efficiency of Alutech roller garage doors, made from AG/77 and AR/555 roll-formed profiles, has been certified by the ift Rosenheim international institute (Germany).
The test results have proved that when installed, the roller garage doors reduce heat loss from premises by providing a thermal resistance of 0, 18 m² K/W. This value represents the thermal resistance of the door curtain only.
Profile | Roller garage door thermal conductivity U, W/m²K | Thermal resistance R, m²K/W |
---|---|---|
AG/77 | 5,5 | 0,18 |
AR/555 | 5,7 | 0,18 |
On the basis of this value we can make a simple comparison with other building materials. For example, the thermal features of roller garage doors are similar to 15 cm brick masonry or 7 cm thick oak cladding.
The tests were carried out in accordance with the prescribed methods of EN ISO 12567-1:2010-07 European standard using the “hot-box” thermal performance facility.
The “hot-box” consists of hot and cold sections and a test frame between them, on which a roller garage door sample is mounted. In the hot and cold sections the required temperatures are set, and then the thermal flow transmitted through the sample is measured.
Thereby, the tests carried out in leading international institutes confirm once again the high quality of ALUTECH roller garage doors.
